The NYTimes.com Visualization Lab recently announced it’s partnership with IBM’s Many Eyes. One does a great job at illustrating complex data visually in unique, compelling, and universal ways; the other provides the incredible tools to do so. I took a class a while back on data manipulation where the weekly assignments were produced using Many Eyes. It was a challenging class and I was no natural but I loved the possibilities that Many Eyes provided. Now I can continue to appreciate Many Eyes as it pairs up great content and great design.

I love my car, her name is Sophie and she’s a VW station wagon. But even Sophie can’t tame my road rage, or more accurately, road irritation. When it comes to driving, I find everything—from scraping the windshield to poky drivers to cracked bumpers—irritating. Beyond moving to a more pedestrian-friendly city, I fear there is little to calm my angst.
If anything could soothe my commute-induced bad mood, it would be an adorable bubble car like the Honda Puyo (pictured below.) It’s infectiously cute, so much so that it’d be hard to be in it’s presence and feel a funk. Other equally cute cars are featured on OObject, a website dedicated to all things gadgety, including an entire collection devoted to bubble cars.

Reuters has an article on foldable cars, a design intended to alleviate parking woes. It’s a pretty cool concept and if it’s any more affordable than the pricey VW Mini Clubman (one of my favorites from this year’s Detroit Auto Show, despite it’s name and price), it might just be enough to shift my outlook on the daily commute.

Today is starting off on a good note (pun not intended, though perhaps ironic I admit). I finally got to listen to the new Britney Spears tracks without being thwarted by websites with incompatible media players or overworked bandwidth. Ah, sweet PopSugar.com, how I love thee. These tracks are all I could have hoped for and more. They aren’t at the caliber of Toxic but they certainly promise that Britney’s comeback is possible. Yeah for Britney! I especially like Cold as Fire, though Gimme More is also ripe with pop-y genius. Neither may be chart-topping hits but they’ve certainly committed me to buying the new album when it drops in November.
Listen to the tracks at PopSugar.com.

Bender would be so envious. Japanese toymaker Take-G, has an amazing set of wooden robots that would put their metal counterparts to shame.
