This past Saturday was spent at the Puyallup State Fair. As I chowed down on corn fritters and funnel cake, I was reminded of the Indiana State Fairgrounds, which was just down the road from my childhood home and where I found myself year round either at the fair, many an antique show with my grandmother, or struggling to stop with an ounce of grace on the ice rink. The Puyallup Fair had everything from salesmen pitching their wares to rodeos, 4H cat shows, sheared sheep, and carnival rides. It was great fun but with the cost of rides (at nearly $5 a pop) the good times had to be reigned in with only a lackluster ride in the haunted house but good times spent on the bumper cars and Spaceship (a.k.a. Gravitron).
