The project was more of an excuse to go out and explore the city, but I had given it some thought prior to going to New York.  There is another project by a photographer from the 70s where he went around and photographed all the doorways on a given block.  He has hundreds of doors from all over New York.  I went around and re-shot several blocks this summer too.  It's just taking longer to pull it all together than these few Abbott photos took.  As far as Abbott goes, it was just sort of hard to resist the opportunity to walk in her shoes for a day.</description>
